Ruth wins writers award – video
Goodbye, 9 to 5’s regular host, Ruth Dugdall, has been chosen as the second winner of the Luke Bitmead bursary, which was set up to encourage & support the work of struggling talented writers.
The winner gets a publishing deal with Legend press and £2,500.
Ruth entered her novel The Woman before Me, and was shortlisted shortlisted soon after – “It’s a real boost,” she said at the time.
Ruth discovered that she’d won at the Bursary’s awards ceremony on the 29th October. She told us, “When the winners were announced, I just burst into tears. I couldn`t help it – the whole event just felt so charged with feeling, and of course I am grateful that the judging panel liked my book.”
Ruth’s award winning novel, The Woman before Me will be published by Legend press in summer 2010 – we plan to have a copy signed by Ruth as a draw prize here on the forum, and we’ll be telling you more about her win in the programme. You can also follow Ruth’s life as an award-winning novelist on her blog.
